Learning More

September 25, 2014

Things are definitely looking up! Got to get to know more and more people this week. Not only did God put amazing people in my life, but He gave me a chance to get closer to them. Praise the LORD!!

Last Tuesday (23rd), I got to go to a Bible study that was a United States' church. A girl my age introduced me to it and told me that I should go. Not only did she lend a hand to me on the first day we met, but she was so sweet and nice to me. She was an Uruguayan and I could tell she loved helping people. I was definitely nervous when I was getting ready to go, because after not being social for a while got my anxiety level going up. My parents took me to the house we were supposed to meet in, and we went in circles for twenty minutes. But we finally found the apartment we were looking for! I told my dad to walk me to the door because I was so nervous... We found the front door and rang the door bell. A lady with a bright smile and wonderful voice opened the door and welcomed me with open arms. I said goodbye to my dad and I finally went in.
I found my friend and sat next to her at a table with four people. Three were adults and my friend and I were the teenagers. There was tea and crepes on the table and I was excited to try home-made crepes with a jam/sauce thing that tasted very similar to Nutella. We started talking and slowly I got comfortable. Then, a couple came and sat down with us. It was very nice. After eating crepes and drinking tea, we finally decided to start the Bible lesson.

We talked about God's characteristics. About His love. The question was, why is God's love important? It really got me thinking. I've never really asked myself that, and then I came to a realization. I saw that our relationship with God is a Father-child kind of relationship. No matter what we do, no matter how much we sin, God still loves us and will forgive us. With His love, we are children of God! Not only does He forgive us or greet us with open arms whenever we confess what we've done wrong, but He even sent His only son to earth just to be the ultimate sacrifice and that we may be able to be with God in heaven. God sacrificed His only son.
God;s love is important to us because it gives us hope and encouragement. Telling people, "Jesus loves you." could be of great meaning to them. Many people who did not feel love might ask back, "Who is this Jesus? Who is he that he loves me?" This statement gives hope and encouragement to so many people in the world. He loved us with a love so profound and strong that it is absolutely indescribable.

Maybe that's why I love the song "How He Loves Us" by David Crowder Band:

"He is jealous for me,
Loves like a hurricane, I am a tree.
Bending beneath the weight of His love and mercy."

Because of His mercy. Because of His grace. Because of His LOVE for us, He sent His only begotten son to the earth to be the ultimate sacrifice. It is said in Romans 5:8

"...While we were still sinners, Christ died for us."

Even though we did horrible things, He sent His son because He loved us.
     Psalms 103:11

His love "is as high as the heavens are above the earth."
