4 AM

November 13, 2014

It's finally starting to feel like spring now! The trees are fully green, flowers of all different colors are blooming (but not as many colors as there were in Costa Rica.. haha but still beautiful!), and the sun is shining its bright rays of sunshine.

I was going to post last Friday but... School was merciless. But! I finally found time to create a new post and I am definitely excited to share with you guys what happened in the past week. As the year comes to an end, it's amazing how time flies! People say it as a figure of speech, but I think it is 100% true. Time does fly.

Last Monday night (Tuesday morning), I woke up with a huge belly ache at 4 AM. Just my luck. I was already somewhat sleep deprived and my stomach decides to wake me up with an immense pain. I had no idea why my stomach was hurting this badly and so I decided to try to ignore it (thinking it was just from cold air or a full bladder... hehe) and tried to go back to sleep. I tossed and turned for 30 minutes and could NOT fall asleep. I was SO TIRED! Stomach, why you do this to me?? I went to the bathroom to empty my bladder (sorry, TMI) but my stomach still hurt like crazy. I crawled to my room (glad my parents didn't see me or they would have thought I was a monster or something) and lied down again, trying to force myself into sleeping (if that's even possible).
I didn't want to wake my parents up because they were exhausted too from a long day. I eventually gave in and walked to my parents room while hunched over. I crawled to my mom's side of the bed and told her my stomach was hurting. There's a Korean saying that says, "Mommy's hands are medicine hands" (~엄마 손은 약손~), and so my mom rubbed my stomach as I tried to fall asleep next to her. After feeling queasy and in pain, I went to the bathroom twice. After that, I eventually had some medicine and tried to go to sleep. Again. Didn't work. Went to the bathroom two more times and FINALLY felt somewhat at peace. I finally fell asleep at... hm... maybe 6 AM? 6:15 AM?
That was definitely not my ideal night. I woke up the next morning feeling weak and a slight bit queasy and had to eat porridge and soft foods (no grease either, which meant no yummy foods :( ). I had to chew more than 20 times so my stomach would accept the food I was giving it. Turned out, the past night, I had drunken (had drank? had dranken?) a full cup of slightly spoiled milk. I WILL NEVER TRUST YOU AGAIN MILK. Guys, don't do it. Make sure you check the expiration date, smell it, and taste a tiny bit before you chug a whole glass of it down with a cupcake.

I eventually felt better after two days (you could tell I was better because I was stuffing my face with all the foods I could find) and I was back on my feet. Last Friday I got to tutor for the first time two students who wanted to get better at speaking English and reading it. I was REALLY nervous, but I had a great time. I really liked it and talking to people who wanted to learn a language (again, languages are amazing), was pretty cool and I really wanted to help them progress. I was also really happy because I HAD to talk in English (don't mind if I do!!!!!). I felt comfortable again and I'm glad this is gonna continue for every Friday.

Last topic for today! Don't go downtown after 2 PM on a Saturday or Sunday. EVERYTHING WILL BE CLOSED. These people like weekends (not saying I don't), but when we got off the bus, everything was BARREN. NOBODY was walking down the streets. We thought it was some kind of holiday since every single store on the street was closed and locked up. We eventually found out that the storekeepers close the stores at 2 PM on Saturdays and Sundays to go rest and hang out with their amigos. HOWEVER, (plot twist!!!) we went to the mall (more like walked a mile or two) and it was PACKED.
It was the week of sales and discounts and so even more people were there. This is not the best place for an introvert. I could literally feel these energy sucking people take the energy from my soul away. Oh well, I still enjoyed the day with my parents and it was a good time to take my mind off of school. We took our first taxi in Uruguay home and we saw it had a window that blocked the front seat from the back seat. That was pretty interesting and my mom decided to take a picture of it. ("Honey! Look! A glass window! We can barely hear your father talk to the taxi man!) Love you mom. Haha I had a good weekend.

Hope everybody stays nice and warm in their Northern Hemisphere (unless you're in the Southern Hemisphere with me. Whoop! Go summer!!). Stay safe and don't get sick people! It's not a nice sensation. Thank you again for reading this and God bless :)

P. S. I finished reading a book called Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell. It was a cute book and I really hated the ending, but I recommend it to people who like a fictional book that can take their mind off of work and school. Enjoy!
